About The Creative Side

The Creative Side currently holds classes in Fred’brg at our home studio at 513 Jackson Street.  We also hold classes in Spotsylvania and Stafford, VA and in King George, VA as an after-school art program in the King George elementary schools.  We offer art classes for children and adults of all ages under a variety of instructors.

What We Do

A Difference You Can See

The Creative Side experience is a unique blend of technical instruction and fun with an underlying attention to a child’s unique artistic needs. We offer art classes for all ages, including adults.  In addition to our classes we host an annual Creative Side art show each October (costumes encouraged and participate in Fredericksburg’s First Fridays where we display student works, provide face painting, art demos (a different one each month) and offer snacks.  There is no charge to join us on First Friday.

Our focus is encouragement, praise, and guidance, helping students see their personal strengths as an artist as well as helping them to navigate those areas they may feel overwhelmed in. Building a child’s confidence is an integral part of our philosophy and we believe it is achieved through emphasis on the techniques and skills that enable a child to take their skills home with them.

A child’s relationship with art is often a fragile one. Regardless of how much a child may love art, the wrong approach at  the wrong time can discourage and turn them off of it completely. Here at The Creative Side, we understand this and have made it our mission to be conscious of it.  Whether art is a therapeutic hobby or a career ambition; confidence, encouragement, and well-guided instruction can go a long way towards an enriching lifetime of finding joy in exploring art.

There’s no waiting on courses to start, since our classes are ongoing. The curriculum is fluid enough to accommodate new students at any time.
